After a hard-fought match that ended 1–1, the team lost the shoot-out 4–3. Despite several chances and spells of dominance, the Germans were unable to make the difference.

Paraguay thus pull off one of the big upsets of this tournament and continue their adventure. For Germany, the exit is a huge disappointment and leaves many regrets.
