Nice-based artist GL, Giorgio Lafropolitain, has unveiled a new artistic project called Goodbye MTV. A personal and symbolic initiative, born after the announcement that the music channel MTV is closing for good — a channel that shaped a whole generation.
In several interviews, the artist spoke about the decisive influence the channel had on his youth. Iconic videos, strong visuals, a clear musical identity: MTV shaped his artistic outlook and the way he thinks about music.
With greater maturity, GL decided to pay tribute to that era by reinterpreting several iconic hits from the 90s and 2000s in fully acoustic versions. A return to the essentials, focusing on interpretation, voice and emotion.
The project comes out a few months before his next album, Dopamine – Partie 2. With Goodbye MTV, the artist offers an artistic pause, a bridge between musical heritage and personal growth.
Since this Monday, the project's first video has been available on YouTube.
